The AI construction boom has ignited demand for HBM, squeezed out traditional DRAM supply, and exacerbated memory shortages. According to Korean media reports, Samsung's memory business division has allocated about 70% of production capacity to long-term contracts before 2031. The main contract customers include large technology companies such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google. However, HBM's rush for goods was quite intense, and even these large technology companies were unable to obtain the full supply volume agreed upon in the contract, causing the spot price to soar further.
