The Zhitong Finance App learned that gold stocks were collectively lower. As of press release, Zijin Gold International (02259) fell 8.31% to HK$147.8; Lingbao Gold (03330) fell 7.94% to HK$21.8; Chifeng Gold (06693) fell 6.76% to HK$40.84; and China Gold International (02099) fell 6.36% to HK$256.

According to the news, Walsh Jackson Hole's debut rekindled expectations for a September rate hike. Gold experienced its biggest one-day decline since July last Friday night. Federal Reserve Chairman Walsh said on Friday that if policymakers are unsure that potential inflation is returning to the target level of 2%, then the Federal Reserve “still has work to do.” He acknowledged that the current financial situation did not seem to place a clear limit on the economy. After Walsh's speech, the interest rate futures market predicted that the probability that the Fed would raise interest rates in September was about 60%, compared to about 40% previously.

It is worth noting that international oil prices rose significantly during the Asian trading session. WTI crude oil futures and Brent crude oil futures both rose more than 2% at one point. The US military bombed two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military facilities on Larak Island. This is the first time in a month that the US military has taken military action against Iran.
