Insiders Re-Evaluate Their AU$4.72m Stock Purchase As Jade Gas Holdings Falls To AU$145m

Listen to the news

The recent price decline of 16% in Jade Gas Holdings Limited's (ASX:JGH) stock may have disappointed insiders who bought AU$4.72m worth of shares at an average price of AU$0.096 in the past 12 months. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth AU$3.45m, which is not great.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Jade Gas Holdings

Notably, that recent purchase by Stephen Silver is the biggest insider purchase of Jade Gas Holdings shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.07). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. Stephen Silver was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions.
