The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 30, Junlebao Dairy Group Co., Ltd. issued an information note on the sampling of a batch of 1 liter of UHT room temperature pure milk in 1-liter cartons by the Food Safety Centre of the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, announcing the inspection results of the entire process.

The inspection showed that the entire production process, factory process, and export process of this batch of products complied with the supervision process, passed the factory inspection, and the Shijiazhuang Customs Technical Center passed the inspection of the sampled products. Abnormal indicators are caused by improper operation during handling in the Hong Kong warehouse and some products were damaged.

On August 26, the Hong Kong Food Safety Centre reported on the testing of a batch of Junlebao pure milk at room temperature. It was found that the sample colony count exceeded the standards of Hong Kong's “Dairy Industry Regulations”. A spokesman for the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety also pointed out that a colony count exceeding legal standards indicates that the hygiene of the product is not ideal, but this does not indicate that it will cause food poisoning. Currently, all products in this batch have been sealed in Hong Kong importers' warehouses, have not entered the market, and have had no impact on any consumers.

After the incident occurred, Junlebao attached great importance to it and immediately set up a special investigation team to actively cooperate with the Hong Kong Food Safety Centre to follow up the investigation and carry out a comprehensive review of the entire production process, shipping process, export, storage and transportation process of this batch of products. After inspection, it was confirmed that the product is a Hong Kong version of the traditional Chinese packaging design, all of which are exclusively for the Hong Kong market; the batch of products (production date: May 7, 2026) was tested by the company before leaving the factory and complying with relevant standards in the Mainland and Hong Kong; the batch of products arrived in Hong Kong after leaving the factory, transportation and transit in Shenzhen, and customs clearance. After the incident, samples of the batch were tested by the Shijiazhuang Customs Technical Center. The inspection report showed that the products met Hong Kong standards and passed the total number of bacteria.

According to the investigation of the whole process, it was confirmed that after the batch of products arrived at the Hong Kong warehouse, some products were damaged due to improper operation during handling, causing the sealing of some products to be damaged or contaminated, causing abnormal sampling of the batch of products. This batch of products was in storage at the time of sampling and had not entered the market circulation process.

Junlebao said in a statement that it deeply apologizes for the impact and concerns this incident has had on the public, partners and all sectors of society concerned about the company. The company will comprehensively strengthen quality control throughout the process, control every step with the strictest attitude, resolutely adhere to the bottom line of quality, ensure the health and safety of consumers, and live up to every trust.
