The Zhitong Finance App learned that Amazon (AMZN.US) continued to rise on Friday. As of press release, it had risen by more than 4%, leading the Big 7. According to the news, Amazon has signed a long-term agreement to purchase electricity from four Swedish wind farms to help meet the power needs brought about by the company's expansion of data centers in the Nordic countries. These agreements will add nearly 200 megawatts of electricity. Amazon said in an email statement that once all projects are fully operational, its total power supply capacity in Sweden will exceed 1 GW. The four wind farms were developed by Eolus AB and OX2 AB, which is owned by private equity firm EQT AB.

As demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services grows, Amazon and other hyperscale data center operators are increasing their power procurement efforts and investing in self-built power generation capacity. In 2025, Amazon became the largest buyer of fossil-free energy companies in Sweden. Globally, Amazon has invested in over 700 such projects with a total installed capacity of over 40 gigawatts.
