Workday’s second quarter results were shaped by accelerating customer adoption of its artificial intelligence (AI) products and a strategic focus on integrating AI capabilities across its platform. Management attributed much of the quarter’s momentum to the rapid uptake of AI agents, with CEO Aneel Bhusri highlighting that “AI products alone drove more than $100 million of new annual contract value (ACV), which accounted for over 25% of all new ACV closed in the quarter.” Workday also cited increased uptake of its flex credits model and deeper integration of acquired AI capabilities, resulting in improving win rates and broad-based growth across geographies.
Looking forward, Workday’s guidance is anchored by expectations for continued AI-driven expansion and deeper product integration. Management believes the company’s growing base of customers using AI agents, combined with programs such as the Lighthouse initiative and the rollout of Sana Enterprise as the default user interface, will drive further subscription growth. CFO Zane C. Rowe noted, “demand for our agentic portfolio is building,” and the team expects greater monetization as adoption scales, particularly as new products and the flex credit consumption model become more widely used across the customer base.
Management identified customer adoption of AI agents, platform extensibility, and the integration of new capabilities as pivotal to recent performance and future trajectory.
Workday’s forward guidance is shaped by expectations for sustained AI adoption, deeper product integration, and operational efficiencies that support both revenue growth and expanding margins.
In the coming quarters, the StockStory team will monitor (1) the pace of AI agent adoption among new and existing customers, (2) the effectiveness of the flex credit model in driving incremental revenue, and (3) the rollout and customer feedback for Sana Enterprise as it becomes the default interface.
