Meituan (03690) Wang Xing: AI models and products will be used to support the development of the main business and will not become a “token factory”

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 28, during the Meituan (03690) second-quarter earnings conference call, CEO Wang Xing said that AI is a comprehensive upgrade to Meituan's organization, products, and workflow.

“We have always believed that the long-term value of AI capabilities is the ability to actually enter real workflows, solve real problems, and form long-term stable infrastructure capabilities. At the same time, national production training and reasoning capabilities have also helped us establish a stronger advantage in terms of long-term costs and infrastructure controllability.” Wang Xing said, “We will not be a token factory. Our models and AI products will be used to support our main business and enhance user and merchant experience and company operating efficiency.”

Wang Xing explained that currently Meituan's overall AI strategy mainly revolves around three directions: Building LLM, AI at Work, and AI in Products.

On the model side, in June, Meituan released a new generation of self-developed large-scale model LongCat 2.0. This is the first trillion parameter model in the industry to complete the entire training and inference process on a national production computing power cluster. LongCat 2.0 has outstanding performance in code writing and agent calling scenarios, and has been extensively verified by the global developer community.

On the product side, Meituan continues to upgrade AI assistants such as “Small Group”, so that AI can gradually move from information inquiry to task execution, and continuously strengthen the closed-loop capabilities of end-to-end services in local life scenarios. On the organizational side, Meituan pushes AI to go deeper into the workflow and improve efficiency. Currently, employees generally use AI tools in their daily work.
