UK's CMA Says Heating-oil Customers to Get Compensation After Suppliers Cancelled Orders

05:53 AM EDT, 08/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's antitrust regulator said Friday that several heating-oil suppliers agreed to compensate customers whose orders were cancelled amid price increases linked to the Middle East conflict. Due to the cancellations, many consumers had to buy replacement oil at significantly higher prices, while others went without the essential fuel, the Competition and Markets Authority said Friday. Customers who paid more for replacement oil will receive the difference, while those who did not buy replacement oil will have their original orders honored at the agreed price. The CMA launched the inquiry in March after receiving concerns about cancelled orders and rising heating-oil prices linked to the conflict.
