Roche's Vabysmo Improves Vision, Retinal Health for Two Years in Late-stage Study

04:57 AM EDT, 08/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Roche (RO.SW) said Friday that Vabysmo demonstrated sustained improvements in vision and retinal health among patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy for two years, citing new data from the Salween study. Results from the phase 3b/4 clinical trial showed that over 60% of Asian patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, or PCV, had no signs of polypoidal lesions following treatment with Vabysmo. After two years, 74% of patients also had no retinal fluid. PCV is an aggressive subtype of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, or nAMD, and is common in Asia. Vabysmo, or faricimab, is approved for nAMD, diabetic macular edema and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion in certain countries.
