China Accepts Novo Nordisk's Application to Sell Oral Version of Weight-loss Drug Wegovy

03:33 AM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Novo Nordisk (NOVO-B.CO) said Thursday that China's drug regulator officially accepted its marketing authorization application for the oral version of its GLP-1 weight-loss drug Wegovy. The application to China's National Medical Products Administration is based on results of the phase 3 Oasis clinical trial program, which evaluated oral semaglutide tablets for obesity treatment, the Danish drugmaker said. The program, which comprised four trials, assessed 1,300 adult patients with obesity or who were overweight with at least one related comorbidity across multiple countries and regions worldwide, including China.
