According to the official website of Huacan Optoelectronics today, the signing and unveiling ceremony of the “Nanjing University-BOE Huacan Optoelectronics Micro-LED Optoelectronics Co-Packaging Frontier Technology School-Enterprise Joint Laboratory” was held at Nanjing University on August 25. Under the leadership of the national third-generation semiconductor technology innovation center, Nanjing University and BOE Huacan Optoelectronics jointly undertook key industrial forward-looking projects in Jiangsu Province. The first phase of the joint laboratory project, the “Micro-LED Optical Interconnection Packaging Technology Research and Development” project, was launched simultaneously. From link design and module matching to system integration, the project aims to open up the complete technical chain of micro-LED optical interconnection systems and lay the engineering foundation for large-scale applications of micro-LED in high-speed communication scenarios. At present, BOE Huacan Optoelectronics and Nanjing University's joint R&D team has successfully achieved a current density of 0.4 kA/cm2 to raise the single-channel modulation broadband of blue light micro-LED to 3.0 GHz, and the transmission power consumption can be as low as 0.25 pJ/bit. This achievement is already at the leading level in the industry and has met the commercialization requirements for short distance transmission of optical communication.
