The US Pennsylvania Department of Health said on the 25th that there have been two measles-related deaths in the state. This is the first measles death in the US in 2026 and the first measles death case in the state in 35 years. Both of the deceased had not received the relevant vaccines. Pennsylvania Health Director Debra Bogan said at a press conference that none of the confirmed cases had fully received two doses of the measles mumps vaccine. “As a doctor, I want everyone to understand that the measles vaccine is safe and provides us with the best protection against measles.” she said. Currently, the US government is revising the vaccination plan. Vaccination rates across the US have continued to decline since the current Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr. took office.
