The Zhitong Finance App learned that Nvidia (NVDA.US) announced on Monday that SpaceX (SPCX.US)'s artificial intelligence business segment SpaceXAI will deploy Vera CPUs to accelerate its next-generation intelligent AI (Agentic AI) applications.
SpaceXAI, formerly known as XAI, an independent company founded by Elon Musk, is now a division of SpaceX. SpaceXAI plans to expand the infrastructure behind its AI chatbot Grok on the Nvidia Vera Rubin platform while extending the optimized Vera Rubin NVL72 solution to space through its first-generation Starmind satellite.
Nvidia said intelligent AI applications increasingly rely on CPUs to orchestrate tools, execute code, process data, and run simulation tasks between model calls. SpaceXAI will use Vera to accelerate these application loads, help AI agents respond faster, and ensure that GPUs continue to obtain data and maintain high utilization rates.
Nvidia notes that as SpaceXAI expands to gigawatt-scale computing capabilities, Vera Rubin provides a common architecture to efficiently expand its next-generation AI factory—the foundation for SpaceXAI's plans to move beyond terrestrial data centers to orbital computing.
According to reports, Vera is the first CPU built specifically for AI agents. It aims to accelerate CPU-intensive work around model inference — from tool calls and code execution to data processing, orchestration, and simulation. Compared to x86 CPUs, Vera can complete tasks up to 1.8 times faster under various workloads including intelligent AI, reinforcement learning, and data processing.
