The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 24, the China Charging Alliance announced the operation status of the national electric vehicle charging and switching infrastructure for July 2026. By the end of July 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (guns) in China reached 236.83 million, an increase of 41.9% over the previous year. Among them, there were 5.09 million public charging facilities (guns), an increase of 21.3% over the previous year. The total rated power reached 255 million kilowatts, and the average power of a single gun was about 49.97 kilowatts; there were 18.584 million private charging facilities (guns), an increase of 48.8% over the previous year, and the reported installed capacity of private charging facilities reached 160 million kilovolts.

According to the operation of public charging infrastructure in provinces, regions, and cities, the proportion of public charging facilities built in the top 10 regions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Fujian, Henan, Anhui, Sichuan, and Hubei reached 66.2%. The country's charging power is mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, Shaanxi and other provinces. Electricity flows mainly to heavy trucks, online car-hailing, and passenger cars, while other types of vehicles such as sanitation logistics vehicles account for a relatively small share. In July 2026, the electricity consumption of the national charging and switching service industry was 16.4 billion kilowatts, a growth rate of 50.3%, an increase of 1.6 billion kilowatts over the previous month.

Overall operation of charging infrastructure. From January to July 2026, the number of charging infrastructures increased by 3.591 million, a year-on-year decrease of 7.4%. Among them, the number of public charging facilities increased by 382,000, a year-on-year decrease of 38.7%, and the number of private charging facilities increased by 3.209 million, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%. By the end of July 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (guns) in China reached 236.83 million, an increase of 41.9% over the previous year.

In comparison between charging infrastructure and electric vehicles, from January to July 2026, charging infrastructure increased by 3.591 million units, domestic sales of new energy vehicles were 6.098 million units, and charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continued to grow rapidly. The incremental ratio of piles is 1:1.7, and the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
