The Zhitong Finance App learned that Meilan Airport (00357) fell nearly 7%. As of press release, it fell 6.76% to HK$5.24, with a turnover of HK$1.675,700.

According to the news, on the evening of August 21, Meilan Airport announced its 2026 interim results, with total revenue of about 1,092 billion yuan, up 1.14% year on year; net loss attributable to shareholders of the parent company was about 668.786 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 4.73%. Notably, Meilan Airport also revealed two transactions: first, Ruigang Logistics, a wholly-owned subsidiary, plans to develop and sell 6% of Hainan Airport Holdings shares to Hainan Airport; second, the implementing entity of the duty-free franchise agreement at Haikou Meilan International Airport was changed to Hainan HNA China Duty Free Products Co., Ltd.

According to Huatai Securities's review, Meilan Airport's performance in the first half of the year was lower than expected, mainly due to aviation demand or being suppressed by high fuel prices and high fuel surcharges. The company's passenger throughput in the first half of the year only increased slightly by 1.3% year-on-year, and the overall non-aviation business did not improve significantly. However, looking ahead, if it sells 6% of Hainan Airport Holdings's shares, the company expects to confirm an investment income of about 540 million yuan. If the delivery goes well, it is expected to turn a loss into a profit for the whole year.
