According to the “2026 Super Golden Week Outbound Travel Trend Report” released by Airbnb China, when the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day are combined, outbound travel may lead the Golden Week travel market this year. The popularity of outbound travel searches by Chinese travelers surged to about 3 times compared to the May Day holiday this year. The average trip lasts 7 days, and about a quarter of stays will take place on 3 working days between the two holidays. The report shows that as summer enters autumn in the northern hemisphere and spring in the southern hemisphere, travelers extend their trips to a wider range of natural destinations. Italy, which has mountains and seas, topped the list of outbound travel destinations for the first time during the 11th Golden Week. The popularity of searches increased 1.5 times over the same period last year, almost double that of France, the second-largest destination in Europe. Among users searching for accommodation in Italy, Gen Z accounted for 40%, leading the year-on-year growth rate. Additionally, South Korea, New Zealand, France, Japan, Australia, Thailand, the United States, Indonesia, and Spain are among the top ten.
