Data released by the Bank of Korea on Thursday showed that, driven by the rise in the local stock market, the size of foreign investors' financial holdings in South Korea recorded the biggest increase in history in the second quarter, reaching a record high. According to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea, as of the end of June, the foreign investment stock reached 3.02 trillion US dollars, an increase of 891.2 billion US dollars from three months ago. This is the first time that this value has broken through the $3 trillion mark, and it is also the biggest quarterly increase since the Bank of Korea began counting this data in 1994. Investment in non-resident securities increased by $859.3 billion to $2.33 trillion; direct investment increased by $400 million to $321.1 billion.
