The Hainan Meteorological Administration issued a level 4 typhoon warning at 19:00 on August 19: The tropical disturbance in the northern part of the South China Sea intensified to a tropical depression this afternoon. At 5 p.m., its center is located about 270 kilometers east of Wenchang, Hainan. The maximum peripheral wind force is level 7, and the lowest air pressure in the center is 998,100 Pa. It is expected that the tropical depression in the South China Sea will circulate less in place tonight. It will slowly move westerly at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometers per hour on the 20th. After passing through Hainan Island, it will move to the surface of Beibu Gulf. The intensity will not change much. Affected by this, from the night of the 19th to the daytime of the 20th, there were gusts of magnitude 8 to 9 in most parts of the South China Sea and along the coast of Hainan Island.
