The won strengthened for the first time after a lapse of more than ten months, breaking through the important psychological threshold of 1 US dollar to 1,400 won. So far this month, net purchases of Korean stocks by foreign investors have reached 8 trillion won. The won appreciated by more than 10% this quarter, outperforming other Asian currencies. The rebound of the won highlights the boom in the Korean chip industry, and semiconductor exports have achieved rapid growth. SK Hynix said it will use the US$26.5 billion raised capital from the US listing for local projects in South Korea, and the company's dollar settlement activities also support the Korean won exchange rate.
