Singapore promises potentially rich tax exemptions to individual fund managers such as hedge fund traders. The Monetary Authority of Singapore announced a series of measures on Wednesday to make the country more attractive to the asset management industry. The core initiative is to exempt part of the profits made by fund managers and investment professionals to create “excellent returns” for eligible fund investors. This policy is in line with the proposed tax reduction scheme for incidental income in Hong Kong. The tax exemption will apply to revenue generated in the current year. Vice Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Xu Fangda said that more details will be announced in the 2027 Singapore Budget, which is usually released around February of each year.
