Driven by strong trading volume and a surge in initial public offerings, HKEx's net profit for the second quarter increased 21%, exceeding market expectations. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange issued a statement on Wednesday saying that in the three months ending June, its net profit reached a record of HK$5.38 billion. According to the data, this figure is higher than the market's general forecast of HK$4.91 billion. The exchange said core business revenue increased 17% during the quarter as deals and IPOs continued strong momentum. “Looking ahead, although macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties remain, the long-term opportunities for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Hong Kong remain attractive as global capital increasingly seeks to enter China's innovative economy and seize Asia's growth prospects,” CEO Chen Yiting said. She was renewed this week for a three-year term, effective March 2027.
