As investors demand higher compensation to provide loans to a government with rising debt levels, financing costs are about to hit a 15-year high during a large-scale long-term bond issuance in Germany. Germany will issue bonds due in August 2056 through a bank underwriting group. The yield of this bond is 0.4 basis points higher than the same type of 2054 bond, which currently has a transaction yield of 3.77%. Christoph Riegel, head of interest rate and credit research at Commerzbank, said the deal on Tuesday is expected to raise up to 3.5 billion euros, and Germany's financing needs will rise sharply in 2027.
