The Zhitong Finance App learned that European biotech company Argenx (ARGX.US) shares soared 10.38% before the US stock market on Monday. According to the news, the company announced on Monday that its autoimmune myositis drug Vyvgart has reached a major end in a phase III study.

Argenx said that compared to placebo, the average overall improvement score of patients treated with the drug at week 52 showed a statistically significant improvement. Autoimmune myositis is a disease in which the autoimmune system attacks muscles and can quickly deprive patients of their ability to take care of themselves.

Argenx is expanding the multiple indications of its core drug, Vyvgart, with the aim of covering a wider range of patients and consolidating its leading position in the field of autoimmune diseases. Analyst Michael Shah said that these research results may be the basis for Vyvgart's approval in the US.

Patients with this type of disease have long relied mainly on steroids and other broad-spectrum immunosuppressants. University of Pittsburgh medical professor Rohit Aggarwal, one of the leaders of the study, said the results were an important advance in helping patients get rid of steroids because steroids have serious side effects.

However, the trial results were not completely consistent, and Vyvgart showed no statistically significant efficacy in another group of patients with concomitant cutaneous symptoms. Shah said it was unclear how regulators would view this result.
