06:49 AM EDT, 08/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Germany's competition watchdog said Monday that Apple (APC.F) committed to amending its rules on user data usage for personalized advertising on iPhones and iPads. The changes include consent prompts that will apply to all applications on the devices, regardless of whether they are from Apple or third parties. Consent request procedures will also be simplified for third-party providers under the commitments. The technology giant offered to revise its Apple Tracking Transparency Framework after the Bundeskartellamt raised concerns about Apple's own offerings not covered by the same consent solicitation rules as third-party applications. The regulator declared the commitments binding and concluded the proceeding. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
