Education departments in many parts of South Korea have recently introduced measures to further strengthen the control of smartphone use by students in primary and secondary schools, with a view to improving students' ability to concentrate in the classroom and curbing cyberbullying. According to reports, South Korea's revised “Elementary and Secondary Education Law” officially came into effect in March of this year. It clearly prohibits students from using smartphones in the classroom, but it is unclear how the school authorities should keep mobile phones, and there are no regulations on situations such as the use of smartphones outside of the classroom. Over the past few months, more and more people have called for rules.
