Despite much criticism since its launch, Ferrari's first all-electric car, the Luce, sold for 40 million dollars, making it the most expensive new car auction in history. Ferrari said in a statement that the “Tailor Made” Haute Couture Luce broke the previous record at Sotheby's charity auction held during Auto Week in Monterey, California, USA. Last year's record was set by a custom-built Ferrari Daytona SP3, which sold for $26 million. Ferrari unveiled the Luce in May at a price of 550,000 euros.
