According to the Zhitong Finance App, Boan Biotech (06955) announced that BA1302, an innovative antibody conjugate drug (ADC) targeting CD228 independently developed by the company, has completed the single-drug dose escalation phase (Phase Ia) of phase I clinical research in China. Research results showed that BA1302 showed good anti-tumor activity in patients with various advanced solid tumors whose disease progressed even after multi-line treatment, and the overall safety and tolerability was good.
As far as the company knows, BA1302 is currently the only clinical-stage targeted CD228 ADC in the world. The CD228 target protein is highly expressed in various solid tumors such as melanoma, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, squamous non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, mesothelioma, colon cancer, and pancreatic cancer, and its expression is low in normal tissues, making it an ideal ADC target. In terms of molecular design, BA1302 couples cytotoxin MMAE to CD228 monoclonal antibody with cysteine in the hinge region through cleavable hydrophilic connectors, and guides the toxin to the tumor site through precise targeting of antibodies, while exerting anti-tumor effects, reducing toxic side effects and increasing the treatment window.
The company believes that the initial efficacy and safety characteristics of this phase Ia study are encouraging, further strengthening the company's confidence in the value of the CD228 target and the development prospects of BA1302. The drug's single-agent activity and co-development potential in multiple solid tumors are expected to open up another new path for precise tumor treatment.
