On August 14, local time, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that the plan to stop the Ukrainian conflict along the line of combat contact was unacceptable. He pointed out that a cease-fire must be based on a long-term, reliable and stable settlement. Lavrov said that at present, there are more and more voices from all sides calling for an immediate cease-fire at the line of contact, but this path is not working. Military action should be stopped only after a long-term, reliable and secure solution has been reached. Lavrov also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to meet US presidential envoy Witkov and the president's son-in-law Kushner again, “but the question is what are they bringing with them.”
