Capital and financial accounts (including net errors and omissions for the quarter) had a deficit of 1333.7 billion yuan, of which direct investment in China maintained a net inflow.

The State Administration of Foreign Exchange announced preliminary figures for China's balance of payments for the second quarter and first half of 2026
In the second quarter of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 1333.7 billion yuan, including a surplus of 1906.5 billion yuan in trade in goods, a deficit of 358.4 billion yuan in trade in services, an initial revenue deficit of 257.2 billion yuan, and a secondary revenue surplus of 42.8 billion yuan. Capital and financial accounts (including net errors and omissions for the quarter) had a deficit of 1333.7 billion yuan, of which direct investment in China maintained a net inflow.
In the first half of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 2617.4 billion yuan, including a surplus of trade in goods of 3628.4 billion yuan, a deficit of 772 billion yuan in trade in services, an initial revenue deficit of 308.6 billion yuan, and a secondary revenue surplus of 69.5 billion yuan. Capital and financial accounts (including net errors and omissions in the second quarter) had a deficit of 2643.9 billion yuan.
In US dollars, in the second quarter of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 195.1 billion US dollars, of which the surplus in trade in goods was 278.9 billion US dollars, the trade in services deficit was 52.4 billion US dollars, the initial revenue deficit was 37.6 billion US dollars, and the secondary revenue surplus was 6.3 billion US dollars. Capital and financial accounts (including quarterly net errors and omissions) had a deficit of US$195.1 billion.
In US dollars, in the first half of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 379.4 billion US dollars, including a surplus of trade in goods of 526.3 billion US dollars, a deficit of 112 billion US dollars in trade in services, an initial revenue deficit of 45.1 billion US dollars, and a secondary revenue surplus of 10.1 billion US dollars. Capital and financial accounts (including net errors and omissions for the second quarter) had a deficit of $383.2 billion.
In terms of SDR, in the second quarter of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 142.8 billion SDR, of which the goods trade surplus was 204 billion SDR, the service trade deficit was 38.3 billion SDR, the initial revenue deficit was 27.5 billion SDR, and the secondary revenue surplus was 4.6 billion SDR. Capital and financial accounts (including quarterly net errors and omissions) had a deficit of 142.8 billion SDR.
In terms of SDR, in the first half of 2026, China had a current account surplus of 277.3 billion SDR, of which the goods trade surplus was 384.7 billion SDR, the service trade deficit was 81.8 billion SDR, the initial revenue deficit was 33 billion SDR, and the secondary revenue surplus was 7.4 billion SDR. Capital and financial accounts (including net errors and omissions for the second quarter) had a deficit of $280 billion SDR.
