According to the news, on August 13, SMIC announced unaudited results for the second quarter of 2026. The company's second-quarter revenue was US$3.06 billion, up 20% month-on-month and 36.1%; gross profit of US$761 million, up 51% month-on-month, up 69.1% year-on-year, and gross margin rose from 20.1% in the first quarter to 25.3%; profit attributable to company owners was US$479 million, up 261.7% year-on-year, and 142.7% month-on-month. The company expects revenue to increase by 2% to 4% month-on-month in the third quarter, and gross margin to rise further to 26% to 28%.

SMIC said that revenue growth in the second quarter was mainly driven by increased wafer sales, rising average selling prices, and changes in the product portfolio. In the second quarter, the company sold 2,869 million wafers (equivalent to 8-inch standard logic), up 14.4% month-on-month and 20.1% year-on-year; capacity utilization increased from 93.1% in the first quarter to 93.7%, up from 92.5% in the same period last year, and continued to approach full production.
