The Zhitong Finance App learned that US President Trump said on Thursday that the US will impose tariffs on imported drones and their parts, and most of these tariffs will take effect after 21 days. Trump said the move was a necessary measure to reduce America's dependence on foreign supply sources.

According to an announcement signed by Trump on Thursday, the US will levy 10% to 100% ad valorem tariffs on imported drones and parts on the grounds of dealing with a national security threat. The announcement stipulates that 100% ad valorem tariffs will be levied on highly sensitive drones of specific sizes or specific functions, as well as docks and certain key components of such drones. This category includes drones with a maximum take-off weight of over 25 kg and drones with thermal imaging capabilities. Additionally, a 25% ad valorem duty is levied on certain drones and other drone components that are smaller and do not have specific features.

The announcement also stipulated a 15% ad valorem tariff on drones and components from the European Union, Japan, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Switzerland, etc. Furthermore, a 10% ad valorem tariff is imposed on drones from the UK, provided that their hardware, software, and technology are basically all derived from these countries and regions, as well as the United States. According to the regulations, the above tariffs will take effect 21 days after signing. For non-highly sensitive drone components, the tariffs will take effect 180 days after signing.
