Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Solar Canada, announced that the Carwarp solar power plant near Mildura, Victoria, Australia will be put into commercial operation ahead of schedule. The project is supported by Microsoft's long-term electricity purchase agreement. The annual power generation capacity is about 405 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity needs of about 65,000 Australian households, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 227,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to reducing more than 49,000 fuel vehicles. The plant has been connected to the 220 kV Victoria transmission grid, and approval has been granted to add a 120 MW battery energy storage system to enhance grid flexibility. The project used about 243,000 high-efficiency TopCon components, created about 300 construction jobs during the construction period, and set up a community charity fund to support sustainable local projects.
