Since the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz is at a critical stage, and considering that Iran is continuing to communicate with relevant countries to ensure the opening of the Strait, I pointed out that it is essential to ease the current military tension and calm the situation as soon as possible. At the same time, Japan conveyed to Iran its position that the US and Iran should conduct discussions based on a memorandum of understanding and reach a final agreement on issues including the nuclear issue as soon as possible. I also expressed my strong expectation that diplomatic easing of the situation will be achieved as soon as possible. We emphasize the importance of free and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in a form that does not incur additional costs, and requires full communication between Iran and the international community, including countries that use the Strait. At the same time, due to energy security considerations, we expressed concern about the current situation in the Strait of Mander and demanded that Iran exert greater restraint pressure on the Houthis.”
