EDF said today that three reactors at the Gravelines nuclear power plant in northern France were forced to shut down due to the influx of jellyfish. Currently, only 1 of the 6 reactors in this nuclear power plant is operating at full capacity, 1 is running at 50% power, 1 is being maintained, and the remaining 3 are out of operation due to the large number of jellyfish. EDF said that the current situation will not affect the safety of nuclear power plant facilities, the safety of workers, and the environment. The Gravelines nuclear power plant was also completely shut down last year due to large numbers of jellyfish entering the cooling system, then waited about 3 days before restarting the first reactor.
