The new mineral, the Wusi River Germanium Mine, was jointly discovered, named and declared by Chang'an University, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Recently, it was officially approved by the New Mineral Nomenclature and Classification Committee of the International Mineralogical Association. This is the first independent germanate mineral discovered in China.
