Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: In the first half of the year, Internet enterprises above the size of China completed Internet business revenue of 106.75 billion yuan

The Zhitong Finance App learned that recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the operation of the Internet and related service industries in the first half of 2026. In the first half of the year, the Internet business revenue growth rate remained stable. Internet and related service enterprises above the Chinese scale (hereinafter referred to as Internet companies) completed Internet business revenue of 106.75 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1% over the previous year, and the growth rate fell 0.3 percentage points from January to May.

Total profit growth accelerated. In the first half of the year, Internet enterprises above the size of China achieved a total profit of 98.99 billion yuan, an increase of 16.6% over the previous year. The growth rate was 6.9 percentage points higher than in January-May.

Investment in R&D has been growing steadily. In the first half of the year, Internet enterprises above the size of China invested a total of 59.55 billion yuan in R&D, an increase of 14.1% over the previous year, and the growth rate fell 1.2 percentage points from January to May.

Looking at the operating situation by region, in the first half of the year, Internet business revenue in the eastern region, central region, western region, and northeast region increased by 11.5%, -13.8%, 3.5%, and -28.6%, respectively.

Internet business revenue in the eastern region accounts for 90.5% of the country. Internet business revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region increased 14% year on year, and Internet business revenue in the Yangtze River Delta region increased 8.3% year on year. The two regions accounted for 33.6% and 30.7% of the country's Internet business revenue, respectively.

In the first half of the year, there were 16 provinces (regions and cities) that achieved positive growth in Internet business revenue. Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guizhou ranked in the top 5 in the country.
