Construction of a manufacturing plant associated with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin aerospace company may soon be a reality for Hutto, joining a host of other Central Texas spaceflight companies. The proposed Project Blue Hub plant will be about the size of 26 football fields – 1.3 million square feet at a cost of $650 million. It would be joining a host of other Central Texas spaceflight companies. Blue Origin is a competitor to Elon Musk’s SpaceX project, located in nearby Bastrop.

The towns economic development agency has been working on financial incentives, should Blue Origin commit. If plans come to fruition, the deal could bring up to 2,000 jobs to the area.

Blue Origin was established by Bezos in 2000
