On the afternoon of August 10, the Ministry of Natural Resources held a video conference to schedule geological disaster prevention and response work in the provinces affected by typhoon “White Dolphin” to discuss risk trends and once again deploy key provinces to strengthen disaster prevention and response efforts. The conference pointed out that typhoon “White Dolphin” has characteristics such as an extremely long cycle, excessive circulation, abundant water vapor, slow movement, and long-lasting inland disasters, and the resulting risk of secondary disasters far exceeds that of ordinary typhoons. Among them, great emphasis should be placed on geological disasters that may be caused by continuous inland torrential rain. In particular, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Henan, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, and Liaoning provinces will become the main battlegrounds for geological disaster prevention for some time to come.
