Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Executive VP & CFO, Brett Urban, for US$1.1m worth of shares, at about US$14.66 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$11.45. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Insider Ownership Of BrightView Holdings

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that BrightView Holdings insiders own 3.6% of the company, worth about US$38m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At BrightView Holdings Tell Us?

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. However, the longer term transactions are not so encouraging. We don't take much heart from transactions by BrightView Holdings insiders over the last year. But they own a reasonable amount of the company, and there was some buying recently. In short they are likely aligned with shareholders. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing BrightView Holdings.
