As you might know, Paramount Resources Ltd. (TSE:POU) just kicked off its latest second-quarter results with some very strong numbers. Statutory revenue of CA$317m and earnings of CA$0.46 both blasted past expectations, beating expectations by 48% and 35%, respectively, ahead of expectations. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.
Following the recent earnings report, the consensus from four analysts covering Paramount Resources is for revenues of CA$1.02b in 2026. This implies a measurable 2.8% decline in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to shoot up 150% to CA$2.01. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of CA$1.03b and earnings per share (EPS) of CA$1.73 in 2026. Although the revenue estimates have not really changed, we can see there's been a solid gain to earnings per share expectations, suggesting that the analysts have become more bullish after the latest result.

The consensus price target was unchanged at CA$36.90, implying that the improved earnings outlook is not expected to have a long term impact on value creation for shareholders. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Paramount Resources at CA$39.00 per share, while the most bearish prices it at CA$34.00. Even so, with a relatively close grouping of estimates, it looks like the analysts are quite confident in their valuations, suggesting Paramount Resources is an easy business to forecast or the the analysts are all using similar assumptions.
Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. Over the past five years, revenues have declined around 3.9% annually. Worse, forecasts are essentially predicting the decline to accelerate, with the estimate for an annualised 5.6% decline in revenue until the end of 2026. Compare this against analyst estimates for companies in the broader industry, which suggest that revenues (in aggregate) are expected to grow 2.6% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while it does have declining revenues, the analysts also expect Paramount Resources to suffer worse than the wider industry.
The most important thing here is that the analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, suggesting that there has been a clear increase in optimism towards Paramount Resources following these results. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
