Market forces rained on the parade of Hexagon Purus ASA (OB:HPUR) shareholders today, when the analysts downgraded their forecasts for this year. This report focused on revenue estimates, and it looks as though the consensus view of the business has become substantially more conservative.
Following the downgrade, the latest consensus from Hexagon Purus' four analysts is for revenues of kr1.2b in 2026, which would reflect a reasonable 6.6% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. The loss per share is anticipated to greatly reduce in the near future, narrowing 45% to kr15.90. Yet prior to the latest estimates, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of kr1.4b and losses of kr15.60 per share in 2026. So there's been quite a change-up of views after the recent consensus updates, with the analysts making a serious cut to their revenue forecasts while also making no real change to the loss per share numbers.

The consensus price target was broadly unchanged at kr19.00, implying that the business is performing roughly in line with expectations, despite a downwards adjustment to forecast sales this year.
Taking a look at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can understand these forecasts is to see how they compare to both past performance and industry growth estimates. We would highlight that Hexagon Purus' revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 14% annualised growth rate until the end of 2026 being well below the historical 19% p.a. growth over the last five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 11% annually. Even after the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Hexagon Purus is also expected to grow faster than the wider industry.
While analysts did downgrade their revenue estimates, these forecasts still imply revenues will perform better than the wider market. Overall, given the drastic downgrade to this year's forecasts, we'd be feeling a little more wary of Hexagon Purus going forwards.
