KBC Group NV (EBR:KBC) just released its quarterly report and things are looking bullish. The company beat expectations with revenues of €3.4b arriving 2.5% ahead of forecasts. Statutory earnings per share (EPS) were €2.83, 4.3% ahead of estimates. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.
Taking into account the latest results, the consensus forecast from KBC Group's 13 analysts is for revenues of €13.4b in 2026. This reflects a modest 6.6% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to rise 9.9% to €9.92. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of €13.6b and earnings per share (EPS) of €9.90 in 2026. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.

The analysts reconfirmed their price target of €127, showing that the business is executing well and in line with expectations. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. The most optimistic KBC Group analyst has a price target of €148 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at €88.00. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.
One way to get more context on these forecasts is to look at how they compare to both past performance, and how other companies in the same industry are performing. The analysts are definitely expecting KBC Group's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 14% annualised growth to the end of 2026 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 8.8% per annum over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 6.9% annually. Factoring in the forecast acceleration in revenue, it's pretty clear that KBC Group is expected to grow much faster than its industry.
The most obvious conclusion is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with the analysts holding their earnings forecasts steady, in line with previous estimates. Fortunately, they also reconfirmed their revenue numbers, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Additionally, our data suggests that revenue is expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
With that in mind, we wouldn't be too quick to come to a conclusion on KBC Group. Long-term earnings power is much more important than next year's profits. We have forecasts for KBC Group going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
