Listen to the news

The Zhitong Finance App learned that, according to news from the Ministry of Commerce on August 5, a spokesperson for the Department of Commerce answered questions from reporters about the implementation of a series of negative measures involving China by the US Federal Communications Commission and the US Department of Homeland Security. The spokesperson said that the relevant measures of the US Federal Communications Commission and the US Department of Homeland Security's practice of including relevant entities in the so-called “Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Law Entity List” seriously violate the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries and seriously damage China's legitimate rights and interests. China can only respond by taking necessary countermeasures. The spokesperson stressed that China's countermeasures are generally restrained. China values the hard-won stability of Sino-US economic and trade relations. We hope that the US side can move in the opposite direction from China. China demands that the US immediately rescind the relevant measures, stop its erroneous practices, return to the correct path of resolving differences through friendly negotiations and cooperation, and work together to maintain a constructive strategic and stable relationship between China and the US. If the US side insists on introducing new restrictive measures against China, China will further counter them.

A spokesman for the Department of Commerce answered questions from reporters on the implementation of a series of negative measures involving China by the US Federal Communications Commission and the US Department of Homeland Security

Q: Today, the Department of Commerce and other relevant departments announced countermeasures against a series of negative measures involving China by the US Federal Communications Commission and the US Department of Homeland Security. What are the considerations?

A: Since the first meeting between China and the US in Busan, the US Federal Communications Commission has ignored strong opposition from China and the strong voices of the Chinese and US industries and continued to generalize the concept of national security, repeatedly and repeatedly introduced restrictive measures involving China, involving various fields such as telecom operations, testing laboratories, drones, consumer routers, submarine optical cables, etc. Recently, it also imposed import restrictions on advanced robotics equipment and power inverters.

In particular, the US side ignored China's many negotiations. After a video call between China and US economic and trade leaders on July 30, more than 40 Chinese entities were added to the so-called “Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Law Entity List” on July 31. The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed to this.

The relevant measures of the US Federal Communications Commission and the US Department of Homeland Security's practice of including relevant entities in the so-called “Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Law Entity List” seriously violate the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries and seriously damage China's legitimate rights and interests. China can only respond by taking necessary countermeasures, including: strengthening export controls on drones and their key components and technology to the US; suspending factory tracking inspections carried out by the US certification agency commissioned by China's mandatory product certification authority; and adding US compliance testing companies to the countermeasure list to initiate foreign trade and national security for imported printing and copying office equipment Investigations, adding 6 US entities to the countermeasure list, etc.

What I want to emphasize is that China's countermeasures are generally restrained.
