The maximum wind near the center was 15 degrees, and the lowest air pressure at the center was 945 hundred Pa. At 02:00 on August 5, the tropical depression in the northeastern part of the South China Sea intensified into typhoon “whale” No. 14 of this year. At 11:00 on August 5, the “whale” center was located at 17.1 degrees north latitude and 119.8 degrees east longitude, about 305 kilometers north-west of Manila in the Philippines. The maximum wind power near the center was 8 degrees, and the lowest air pressure in the center was 998 hundred Pa. It is expected that the “white dolphin” will move westerly at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour, with little change in intensity. The “whale” will move less in place, and the intensity will not change much. The Guangdong Maritime Administration decided to launch a level 4 emergency response to the tropical cyclone at 12:00 on August 5.
