On August 5, the Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Attorney's Office launched a seizure and search of 7 petrochemical companies and related personnel, including LG Chem, Hanwha Solutions, Aikyung Chemical, OCI, Lotte Fine Chemical, PKC, and UNID, to investigate suspected price collusion with various petrochemical products. The prosecution suspects that the above companies have been pre-negotiating price increases for eight types of products, including PVC, plasticizer, caustic soda, and hydrochloric acid over the years. Earlier, the Korea Fair Trade Commission discovered related suspected collusion leads in May of this year and initiated an on-site investigation.
