As for the two US officials whose visas were recently denied by Brazil, the statement stated that the purpose of their visit to Brazil was to question the impartiality of the Brazilian electoral system and try to interfere in Brazil's domestic political process. The statement also said that the US side previously imposed unilateral sanctions on a number of senior Brazilian officials on the grounds of so-called “political persecution of former President Bossonaro,” including cancellation of visas to the US.
