Canada's imports from the US reached a record high in June, driven by a surge in imports of computer components used in data centers. Currently, Canada is seeking to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure. Statistics Canada announced on Tuesday that the increase in imports of electronic and electrical equipment and components led to a rise in total Canadian imports, although imports declined in 9 out of 11 product categories. Imports of computers and peripherals increased 59% in June, mainly due to increased imports of processors for data centers from the US. This boosted Canada's imports from the US to a record high of 42.63 billion Canadian dollars, and narrowed Canada's trade surplus with the US from 11.1 billion Canadian dollars the previous month to 10 billion Canadian dollars.
