At the end of last year, in order to reduce debt costs and ease the pressure of narrowing net interest spreads, various banks “removed” 5-year large deposit slip products one after another. However, this summer, 5-year large deposit cards, which have been dormant for more than half a year, are returning “limited”. Currently, the online and offline amounts of these deposit cards continue to be in high demand. The reporter visited a number of joint stock bank branches and found that as soon as online credits for long-term large deposit products were launched, they were quickly subscribed to, and offline outlets also welcomed many depositor inquiries and processing. An account manager at a joint stock bank explained, “If you have a 3-year term, I think there is a quota, but if you buy a 5-year term, you probably won't have a quota on the weekend.” Currently, major state-owned banks are capped at 1.6% for 5-year deposit certificates, and the initial purchase amount is 200,000 yuan; interest rates for similar products in joint stock banks can reach up to 1.8%, both of which are higher than interest rates for ordinary time deposits for the same period. The industry believes that this return to 5-year large deposit certificates does not represent the full liberalization of long-term deposit products; it is more a phased and structured savings collection strategy adopted by banks under multiple factors. For ordinary savers, experts suggest combining length and length and hierarchical layout to find a balance between steady value preservation and flexible turnover.
