In order to enhance the competitiveness of artificial intelligence technology in Korea and expand the spread of AI services, the construction project of a national AI computing center known as the “AI Expressway” was officially launched. Korea's Ministry of Science, Technology, and ICT held a groundbreaking ceremony for the National AI Computing Center on the 3rd on the solar new solar data center site in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, Gwangju. As the core infrastructure of the “AI Expressway”, the National AI Computing Center will be equipped with top AI computing power resources to build an AI R&D and commercial application environment. The project has a total investment of 2.5 trillion won and covers an area of about 48,000 square meters. It is planned to be a two-story building. The target is to be completed and put into operation in 2028.
