The US Embassy in Jordan on Saturday urged Americans in the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to depart as tensions escalate, and warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions. The embassy said in a security alert: “The security environment is still complex, and there may be unforeseen escalations,” and advised Americans to be more vigilant. The embassy also urged US citizens to avoid going to military bases in Jordan and warned that Iran and pro-Tehran groups could target US interests overseas. Americans located outside the Middle East should “seriously reconsider” travel to or through the region.
